Planning & implementation decisions
Should your organization build a native or cross-platform app?
Choose after testing the hardest device and workflow requirements. Cross-platform development can share application code across operating systems; native development may fit deeper device integration. A responsive web application may be enough when installation and device-specific features are unnecessary.
| Approach | Candidate fit | Validate first |
|---|---|---|
| Responsive web app | Browser-based tasks and simple distribution | Browser support and required offline behaviour |
| Cross-platform app | Shared tasks across Android and iOS | Plugins, accessibility and target-device performance |
| Native app | Deep platform or device integration | Separate platform effort and ongoing support |
- Step 1 →
New field request
Screen: task details, validation messages and Submit.
- Step 2 →
Submission status
Screen: Saved on device → Sending → Accepted by server.
- Step 3 →
Operations queue
Backend: authorized staff review, assign and resolve.
- Step 4
Status history
Screen: reference, last confirmed update and next action.
Exception & recovery path
No connection → retain an allowed local draft. Conflict or rejection → show the reason and a correction path. Retry must not create a second task.
How does an app connect to its operational backend?
The interface submits a task to an authenticated API. The backend enforces permissions and validation, records the task and exposes a durable status. A successful local save is distinct from server acceptance; show both clearly.
What should users see when connectivity fails?
For an agreed offline workflow, show “Saved on this device” with a retry state until the server accepts the task. Give each submission a stable identity and define conflict resolution. Assess which records may be held on a device before implementing offline storage.
What should we review before approving the interface?
Review representative screens for entering a task, viewing its status and recovering from errors. The example below is an illustrative interface specification, not a client screenshot or a released app. Approved product demonstrations can be reviewed during project discovery.
Who controls app release and maintenance?
Agree ownership of store accounts, signing credentials, backend hosting and support. Scope device testing, operating-system updates, account recovery and accessibility. Store review and external integrations introduce dependencies beyond coding time.
Take this into your project discussion
- Identify devices, connectivity and accessibility needs.
- Compare native, cross-platform and browser options.
- Define local-save versus server-accepted states.
- Test duplicate submission, conflicts and lost connectivity.
- Agree release accounts, credential ownership and support.

Mobile Apps Built Around Users
Good app design starts with what users need to achieve: register, search, apply, report, order, pay or track a request. We map the actions, information and error states before creating screens, so the experience is useful beyond its visual appearance.
Business Applications and Customer Portals
We work on customer-facing applications, employee tools, field data collection, institutional service experiences, property interfaces and mobile commerce. Each app receives the appropriate access model, administrative workflows and notifications according to project requirements.
Connect the App to Real Operations
An application may rely on existing ERP records, a product catalogue, payment provider, account system or customer service workflow. We define APIs, data ownership, identity controls and supported notifications early to reduce integration surprises after design.
Build, Test and Launch Responsibly
Technical discovery determines the suitable native or cross-platform approach. We plan device testing, deployment and store ownership, documentation, updates and maintenance responsibilities as part of the agreed scope.
Frequently asked questions
Do you build apps for both Android and iPhone?
Yes, we scope Android and iOS projects and select the implementation approach that fits the requirements and maintainability needs.
Can an app integrate with our ERP or M-Pesa?
We can assess appropriate integrations and APIs, subject to permissions and provider availability.
